Andrássy Garden

A cozy hotel restaurant on Budapest’s most beautiful boulevard, close to Heroes’ Square. Though the Mamaison Hotel Andrássy’s restaurant is located in a semi-basement, the white walls, arches, woven rattan, green plants, macramé pendant lights, and shell chairs create a tropical colonial vibe. The space is well-sectioned, with a striking bar and an impressive "wine wall" at the back of the room, although the wine list is relatively compact but thoughtfully selected. Since it is a hotel restaurant, it opens as early as 6:30 AM for breakfast, and the menu offers dishes throughout the day, so you will find also a rich international breakfast buffet and a well-curated business lunch menu. Service is laid-back yet consistently attentive. As an amuse-bouche, we received a goat cheese tartlet with forest berry jam. The guinea fowl soup with matzo balls looks great and has nice flavours, though the texture of the dumplings varies, and the vegetables are a bit overcooked. The braised wild boar is served on a bed of parsnip purée, complemented by excellent crispy parsnip chips. However, the rowanberry flavor is barely noticeable, and a bit more jus would enhance the dish. A special highlight is the restaurant’s garden – hence the name, Andrássy Garden. It is a perfect hideaway for a romantic evening or a cozy spot for social gatherings, whether inside or out.
