Apáti Restaurant is evolving gracefully and organically. Having outgrown their home, they expanded into the neighbouring corner shop, transforming it into the kitchen and indoor dining area. The original space now houses a sizable wood-fired pizza oven, the cornerstone of their popularity – though their repertoire of comfort dishes more than holds its own. The beef consommé impresses with its gingery, finely cut homemade noodles and delicately julienned root vegetables. A dish simply titled catfish, lemony baby potatoes, green peas is bright, summery and deftly flavoured. The mushy peas with herb oil add nuance to the classic fish and potato pairing. The sex appeal of this unassuming little restaurant is its location: at the edge of Sajkod, overlooking the bay and the hills near Örvényes and Aszófő, a short detour from the Balaton cycle path.
