Opened in 2012, Bors GasztroBár was a trailblazer in Budapest’s buzzing party district. “Street food does not equal fast food,” proclaims a sign on the wall – both their motto and manifesto. Their early energy and humour haven’t faded: Star Wars relics still abound, and the Force is clearly with them. The menu is inventive and relaxed: sweet soups like strawberry Túró Rudi or Nutella-waffle creations proudly wear the label “(definitely) soup.” Whether they’re rolling a wrap or serving the Braindead baguette (filled with creamy pork brain), shameless puns and bold flavours never disappoint. It’s international and Hungarian cuisine – but in a different class from standard street food.
