When it comes to dining around Páty, Cukorborsó is the place to go. The restaurant stands right by the main road on the edge of town, heading towards Budakeszi, with stairs leading up to the entrance. It is a charming spot surrounded by tall trees, right next to the Fenyves recreational forest. The building has a cozy weekend house vibe, complete with a huge terrace and its own little playground. They bake authentic Neapolitan pizzas in a wood-fired oven, which is a real treat. Everything is set up for a great family restaurant. One of the owners, Attila Balázs, is a passionate pizzaiolo who really knows his way around making Neapolitan pizza. He has even competed in world championships. The other owner is Ferenc Rákóczi, a well-known foodie media personality, and together they share a love for the Green Egg “egg grill.” The menu is what you would expect: from grandma’s favourite fried chicken to Italian pastas, juicy BBQ dishes, somlói galuska (Hungarian trifle), and floating islands dessert. No snobbery here, fried cheese is just as welcome as a Margherita D.O.P. pizza made with authentic Italian ingredients. Lately, the quality has been a bit hit or miss, and they clearly struggle with staffing, but despite that, it is still a lovable spot that is regularly packed on weekends.
