Elefántos Étterem És Pizzéria

In the pedestrian area of downtown Pécs, everyone knows the Elephant House and the restaurant that has been around for almost 30 years. Like many Italian restaurants, they did not borrow the name from Italy, but they definitely took inspiration from its food and vibe. The art of pizza-making was even imported straight from Naples, and they have earned the Associazione Vera Pizza Napoletana certification, a distinction that only two pizzerias in Budapest can claim. Inside, a huge pizza oven splits the space, and the outdoor tables and chairs have a slightly mismatched feel. They make their dough in-house, getting the texture just right, and the menu features all the classic trattoria dishes. The tiramisu served as a dessert in a glass was a real winner. Their wine selection shows a strong Italian influence, and it is great that you can taste Italian wines by the glass too. You can really feel the Italian hospitality here – it is a true comfort spot.
