Next to Veszprém City Stadium stands a handsome stone building housing Gusto13 with its Italian kitchen crafted with intent: rather than leaning on brash clichés, it focuses on technical precision, balance of flavour, and a manifest respect for the seasons. The atmosphere emanates muted elegance—warm lighting, well-proportioned spaces, and a gentle background hum. The décor is contemporary without being frigid; quality materials and thoughtful furnishings echo the spirit of the kitchen. The menu has a strong character without overwhelming in length, and always includes a playful or reimagined dish or two. During our visit, an inventive sterlet skewer was served with white asparagus and elderflower, while the truffled chicken with hempseed and mushrooms arrived radiated refinement. Desserts, too, are stylish—the sophisticated strawberry, green apple and white chocolate composition rounded out the meal refreshingly. Presentation is elegant and modern throughout, perhaps even a touch more elaborate than a light-hearted Italian concept might demand. The wine list has been carefully curated, with a firm focus on Italy, and includes some exciting bottles from smaller producers. By-the-glass options are food-friendly and go down easily. The selection of spirits is modest but discerning. Non-alcoholic options boast house-made cordials, lemonades and flavoured sodas. There can be little doubt that Gusto13 is among the top tables in Veszprém. This is a chic, modern city restaurant built on Italian flavours, where fine technique and a refined sense of proportion ensure a consistently rewarding gastronomic experience.
