Kőkút has not jumped on the new wave of Lake Balaton's dining trends. However, many people still visit this small village of just 500 people in the Káli Basin, mainly because of the nostalgic atmosphere and old-school kitchen of this restaurant. The interior is styled like an old farmhouse, with a terrace in a retro Balaton style, featuring colorful string lights and the iconic metal-frame chairs and tables. The menu features the beloved dishes of Hungarian cuisine, as expected from the place. The food is presented neatly, without any unnecessary frills. The portions are generous, and overall, the kitchen offers a homemade style. Grandma’s homemade chicken broth comes with vermicelli and tenderly cooked vegetables, truly reminiscent of "grandma’s" cooking. The Kaiserschmarrn brings a pleasant surprise, served "the way we love it – with homemade jam." The crumbs are perfectly crispy, and the jam is fruity and flavourful. However the restaurant’s weak point is the restroom located in the back building. For families, there is a small play area and sandbox, making this place suitable for anyone from zero to a hundred years old. It's highly recommended for retro style lovers!
