Osteria Pomo d'Oro

Gianni Annoni’s "Via Italia" concept now includes an osteria – and not just any osteria. The newest member of the Pomo d’Oro family is full of energy: modern, youthful, and just a touch elegant. The space features natural brick and wood surfaces, brought to life by bold blue design accents, eye-catching fridges, decorative wine shelves, and even walls filled with corks. Soft lighting and Italian music help whisk you away from everyday Budapest, while the little Italian deli corner adds a truly authentic feel. There is no doubt here about the quality or origin of the ingredients – it is all unmistakably Italian and top-notch. You will notice it right away in the antipasti, where the focus is on premium ingredients, or in the toppings of the pinsa romana. The menu also includes pasta, fish, meat dishes, and three desserts – all beautifully plated, colorful, and thoughtfully presented. The risotto we tried was creamy, perfectly al dente, with a lovely touch of saffron. The lamb ossobuco was tender and juicy, with a gremolata sauce that gave it a fresh, light twist. The staff are friendly and well-prepared, chatting with guests in a warm and welcoming way that really adds to the vibe. The wine list is pure Italian indulgence, with almost 400 labels covering both still and sparkling options. The grappa and other Italian spirits selection is just as impressive – and the cocktail list is solid, with a dedicated section for gin and tonics. It is a stylish mix of Italian gourmet shop, wine bar, and great cucina – all done the Italian way, with flair.
