Pizzica

While the city has only recently started buzzing about the topic, two Italian brothers brought quality pan pizza to us long ago. Paolo and Enrico de Bartolomeo are well known figures of Budapest's underground art scene, so their pizza bar even doubles as a venue for contemporary art exhibitions. Missing the authentic pizza experience from back home, they opened Pizzica on Nagymező Street in 2014, sticking to traditional Italian recipes and ingredients. Although we often think of Italian pizza as thin-crust, the Roman-style (Lazio) pizza dough is thicker but still light and airy, thanks to a 60-70 hour resting period. The pan pizzas are cut with scissors and served alongside great beers. Think gourmet pizza slices, chill vibes, interesting guys behind the counter, handwritten signs, and non-mainstream music – that is Pizzica.
