Szőlőskert Étterem

Just a 10-minute drive from downtown Nagykanizsa, right off Route 61, you will find this charming inn that is also home to a cozy little hotel called Vineyard Inn – Szőlőskert. The property includes several buildings with cute shuttered windows, a lush garden, a small pond, and flowers planted in old wine barrels. One fun detail that sticks in your memory is the bicycle on the rooftop, and there is a shady terrace with a slide and a play area for kids. For a roadside inn, the food was a surprisingly pleasant experience – super fresh and clearly made with care. During our visit, they built the menu around two seasonal favourites: asparagus and strawberries. Even the classic dishes got a little seasonal twist. The strawberry-asparagus salad, chicken breast with asparagus, hollandaise sauce and new potatoes, and the strawberry pavlova were all perfect spring picks. Bonus points for the really good sourdough bread! Service was friendly and warm, though not exactly professional – but they were doing their best to make up for any small hiccups. If you are in the Nagykanizsa area, the Szőlőskert is definitely worth a stop.
