The Sky Garden Rooftop Terrace

Most rooftop bars are packed into downtown Budapest, which makes the skybar at the Mystery Hotel stand out right away. It is on the outer edge of the Grand Boulevard, so you are looking out over Pest’s rooftops, and beyond that, to Buda Castle and Gellért Hill. The 5-star hotel has a fascinating past: it once housed freemason grand lodge, and the entire interior – designed by Zoltán Varró – is full of mysterious, old-world charm. These motifs appear on the terrace as well: the decor features a towering ancient-style Doric column reaching toward the sky. The cocktail bar’s signature drinks look just as stunning in real life as they do in the photos. The food holds its own too: while it is not your typical bar snack lineup, the goulash and chicken paprikash are especially worth trying. A true hidden gem up on the 7th floor, tucked between Terézváros’s timeworn buildings.
