Avalon Ristorante

Nestled in the forests of the Bükk Hills in Miskolctapolca, Avalon Fun Park is a family-friendly luxury resort, entertainment complex and—crucially—a standalone dining destination. The identity of the Italian-inspired ristorante is shaped by corporate chef Gábor Szepesi and head chef Tamás Gönczi, whose culinary horizons have broadened significantly in recent years. The menu opens with small plates ideal for sharing, and while the flavours of Italy dominate, Spanish, Asian and Hungarian influences also make their mark. True to the eclectic spirit of Avalon, dishes from the Josper oven—such as premium steaks—sit comfortably alongside mangalitsa tonkatsu or stuffed cabbage with pearl barley and pork. The spaghettoni carbonara is a standout: dreamily creamy, and commendably prepared with real guanciale. The tiramisù arrives with a charming flourish: a sponge disc is doused at the table with a blend of Italian coffee and coffee liqueur from a classic Bialetti moka pot, then topped with mascarpone mousse and a dusting of cocoa powder. The wine list leans towards Italy and Hungary, with an appealing selection, and the entire drinks offering is premium. Attentive, well-trained staff help ensure a polished dining experience. In addition to the main restaurant, there’s a dedicated wine salon and a more casual space, Club Avalon, which serves family favourites like deep-fried cheese made from Viennese Emmental, mangalitsa schnitzel, and pulled pork sandwiches. Avalon Ristorante is far more than a hotel restaurant—it’s rightly considered one of the finest dining experiences in the region.
