Edy's French Tacos

A street food hybrid near the Opera House, places like this push Budapest toward world-city status. Just like the name “French tacos,” Edy is also misleading: behind it is a Hungarian guy. He first discovered the dish in Vietnam, fell in love with it, and decided to bring it home to Budapest. This French-Arab street food trend is best described as a burrito-shawarma hybrid, and despite the name, it has nothing to do with Mexican tacos. The wraps are made in five steps, and you get to choose each one from the size of the tortilla to the sauces that give the dish its true personality. The result: a crisp, golden-brown exterior giving way to a soft, melting, flavour-packed center. It is saucy, fresh, and full of bold taste – street food at its most satisfying.
