És Margarita twinkles with contemporary gastronomy and natural wine in an up-and-coming part of Ferencváros. By evening, the place buzzes, glasses clink, and the kitchen hums. Two young chefs, Levente Szabados and Marcell Orbán, brought Margarita to Mester (Master) Street, and behind the playful pun is a restaurant just as witty. The banter with guests may be lighthearted, but the cooking is serious. The menu always includes one starter, four mains, and two desserts – with minimalist names like “butter beans, miso sauce”. It’s best to arrive open-minded and ready for surprises: old favourites like shepherd’s stew with pearl barley and curd dumplings are reimagined, while the kitchen flits freely between Mediterranean and Asian fusion.
