Ferdinánd Bisztró

10 | 20

Named after the traditional local pastry – the sweet, filled Ferdinánd roll – this charming bistro is not just a favourite in Kunmadaras, but one of the most popular spots across the whole Nagykunság region. Instead of a formal dining atmosphere, it welcomes you with a cozy, homey vibe, rooms full of antiques, and a strong dose of rustic Hungarian countryside charm. The service matches the setting – a little rough around the edges, sometimes slow, but always eager. The food is flavourful, with a menu that highlights the local character through dishes you do not often see elsewhere. Think hearty kötöttgaluska soup, a regional specialty, and rich mutton stew in true Great Plain style. Alongside Karcag-style classics, the bistro is not afraid to branch out – you will find burgers under the "fast food" section, and even sourdough pizzas with unexpected toppings. They also throw in some nostalgic Hungarian favourites – like cigánypecsenye (Gypsy style pork steak), cordon bleu, fried cheese, and mushrooms. The Ferdinand Bistro’s quirks are part of its charm. All in all, it is an honest, down-to-earth family restaurant – and a big plus is that much of the produce used in the kitchen comes straight from their own garden.
