Hokedli

More than ten years ago, Bori Sinkó opened her veggie stew bar. Sensing the winds of change and she has dreamed up a vegetable-focused kitchen in a tiny shop on Nagymező Street. She decided to focus on two dishes that had been given a bad rap by school cafeterias and cheap diners: soups and veggie stews. But she gave them a gourmet twist, cooking them with love and care – just like you would for family. At Hokedli, it is not just a marketing line when they say they cook with seasonal ingredients. They really do hit the market every morning to pick up fresh produce. Because of this, the menu changes daily, with soups and stews complemented by one-pot meals, salads, and desserts. It’s a common sight to see a line forming outside the little eatery around lunchtime. Good, honest food gets around by word of mouth.
