For years, Horgonyzó has been a staple of Tiszalök’s holiday home area. Don’t be misled by its beachside snack bar appearance - the winterised lakeside cabin houses a superb kitchen. A charming garden extends from the back, while the cosy interior warms winter guests with a crackling fireplace. The wood-fired oven is a striking feature, baking pizzas, duck legs, curd cheese pasta, and the flatbreads served with the dishes. Embracing the style of a classic riverside eatery, the menu features multiple versions of catfish soup, alongside catfish paprika and Hortobágyi-style stuffed cabbage with carp. But the selection goes beyond freshwater fish, with steaks, well-crafted burgers, and pizzas also making their mark. Premium local ingredients - Tiszalök cheese, Hortobágy Angus beef, Mangalica pork, and venison—feature prominently. The crispy catfish bites, described as "fish crackling”, come in a golden crust, paired with homemade dill tartare sauce and marinated red onion for fresh contrast - a splendid appetiser or beer and wine companion. The "Korhely" (Tipsy) catfish soup, enriched with sour cream, is silky and rich, with perfectly tender fish, served with excellent oven-baked sourdough flatbread. The thoughtfully chosen wine list leans towards whites, with about half available by the glass, complementing the high standard of the food.
