IGEN opened in 2015 on Madách Square as a pioneer of Neapolitan pizza in Hungary. It all began with Nóri Vidó’s obsession with the craft — an enthusiasm that helped introduce the nation to this high-hydration, precision-driven style. What started as a tiny pizza bar is now a fully fledged Buda restaurant, boasting AVPN certification (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana), a wood-fired oven, and frequent full houses. The menu features time-honoured classics like the lard-rich Mastunicola, alongside playful creations such as mortadella, ricotta and pistachio. Italian ingredients, confident technique, and plenty of flair. They’re equally at ease with gluten-free, wholegrain and vegan pizzas. The setting is cosmopolitan, but every bite transports you straight to the backstreets of Naples.
