A fitting name for a tiny family-run restaurant in Dörgicse. Nikoletta Ferencz and Viktor Reiner have built their kitchen on three core values: personal connection (they host every guest themselves), emotional and evocative gastronomy, and a relaxed, experimental approach to cooking. You will not be greeted by a flashy façade here, just a lovingly restored Balaton Uplands cottage with a village bicycle leaned against its gate. The garden feels more like visiting friends than dining at a restaurant: mismatched chairs, lantern light by night, and a stylishly lived-in aesthetic. The interior is modern and close to nature, almost “naked” in its minimalism, with subtle Eastern design touches. Instead of classic restaurant service, it is the owners themselves who welcome you – kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. The flow is smooth and uninterrupted. During our visit, we enjoyed seasonal plates featuring new potatoes, asparagus, and tender green peas in several variations. The kitchen is creative but never excessive. The túrógombóc (cottage cheese dumplings) were a perfect example: served the classic way with toasted breadcrumbs, sour cream, and excellent homemade jam. The wine list reflects the spirit of the place: short and carefully curated with local gems from nearby vineyards. The drinks menu is equally enticing, offering apple and verjus spritzers, syrups, house iced tea, artisanal tonics, local pálinkas, and a few small-batch beers. Reservations are a must, and opening hours are deliberately limited: Thursday through Saturday evenings, and Sunday lunch only. The frequent full house shows just how much people crave this kind of heartfelt, slow hospitality.
