Maison Bistro

10.5 | 20

In the charming, cobbled streets of the Buda Castle District, Maison Bistro has a modest yet welcoming entrance. Anyone can step into the boutique hotel’s restaurant, and it is worth it: inside, you will find a little world with full of stylish quirks. In the guest area, divided by arches and columns, the chairs look like thrones, colourful cups line the walls, and medieval details blend with modern elements. Unfortunately, the menu we were handed was torn and worn out, but the bistro selection is appealing. The beef cheek stew with red wine features tender meat, a thick sauce, and the sheep’s cheese potato dumplings are crispy on the outside, while the pickled green tomato lightens up the dish. The cabbage pancake with pickled apple, wine foam, and fruit bread has got a lot of faults. Clearly, they want to offer a creative kitchen, but with a little more dedication and better ingredient choices, they could achieve higher score. Despite all of this, Maison Bistro, with its cozy inner courtyard is a truly a special spot for lunch or dinner in the Buda Castle district.
