On its charming main street stands Noresa, a former peasant house transformed into a cosy guesthouse and restaurant, where the staff’s genuine dedication to their guests was a pleasant surprise. As a rural wine-country eatery, the wine list is a touch concise, focusing on small to mid-sized local producers, with about half available by the glass. Alongside house-made lemonades, the inclusion of verjuice among the alcohol-free spritzers is a joy. The menu is tightly tailored, with the chef’s specials always featuring several seasonal dishes. The weekend offering of catfish paprikash with curd cheese noodles came in a silky smooth sauce, with the fish maintaining its shape. The presumably house-made pasta was pleasantly thick, generously layered with curd cheese and sour cream—undoubtedly the dish’s defining element. A pity that the crackling fell short of expectations in a countryside inn. The poppy seed bread pudding soufflé sparked excitement, though the chef may wish to take a taste before sending it out next time. Overall, Noresa delivers warm-hearted, endearing rural hospitality just a stone’s throw from Szekszárd.
