Pingrumba

The Dobrumba team has doubled up on the Buda side with Pingrumba: following the motto "From Cairo to Calcutta," we travel from the Levantine region all the way to India. Stepping in from the busy Széll Kálmán Square, you will find yourself in a spacious, friendly area. The street noise is replaced by pleasant music, and the interior, with its charmingly worn-out elements, looks like it has been collected from a flea market, blending a bazaar vibe with a touch of ruin bar style. The glass-covered inner courtyard is bright, green with plants, and the worn walls truly evoke the Middle East. In the Tiger room, there is also a play corner for families. The atmosphere is totally laid-back, and it is hard to tell who is the waiter and who is the guest just by looking at their outfits. The menu is mostly influenced by Levantine flavours, with only a few Central Asian or Indian dishes. Traditional recipes are creatively enhanced with new twists: the labneh is paired with za'atar-marinated kohlrabi slices, while the mejadra features curly kale, pistachios, and raisins. The lamb meatballs are juicy, beautifully seasoned, and have an outstanding flavour. The drink selection is unique: catering to the younger generation, there are plenty of non-alcoholic options, from coolers and lemonades to spritzers and lassis, while the wine list highlights natural wines. Along with the usual spirits, you can also choose from gin & tonics and cocktails. Pingrumba regularly hosts DJ performances, making it a place that could easily be called a bar or a bustling hotspot, complemented by a very sophisticated kitchen.
