A serious kitchen in the party district. Locals know to treat the area’s “goulash soup and schnitzel” offerings with scepticism—but this unassuming bistro is a welcome exception. It’s a cosy space decked out in warm colours with just a handful of tables. A recent update brought in plush, enticing armchairs, making the indoor space even more appealing. In a neighbourhood saturated with tourist-heavy eateries, it’s a rare pleasure to encounter a team as cheerful, attentive, and eager to please as the staff here. Chefs András Császár and Gábor Szabó share the reins in the kitchen, proving that two heads can indeed be better than one in the long run. Their menu features trendy dishes such as roasted cauliflower, Chinese-style wontons with black pudding, and a classic steak—but Hungarian staples aren’t overlooked. A bold touch: the fried cheese is made from quality Etyek cheese and served not with old-school sides, but with a refreshing beetroot salad. The goulash soup we tried came in a generous portion, thick and hearty. The seasoning was just right, the meat and vegetables cooked to perfection. If this is the version a tourist encounters, Hungarians can puff their chests in pride. The roasted cauliflower hit the same high notes A dish that could have charmed more was the tongue-in-cheek take on roast sausage with mustard, onions, pickles and bread. Served as one sliced sausage on a single slice of bread, the garnishes lacked presence—and the price was disproportionately high. Remma’s continues quietly on its own path, with a kitchen worth noting. Still unfamiliar to many, it’s a place that deserves to be put on the map.
