Owner Pál Rókusfalvy is a devoted ambassador of the Etyek wine region, with the estate serving as a hub for cultural, wine, and gastronomic events. The setting is exactly what you would envision for a stylish winery restaurant—thick whitewashed walls, a rustic, timeworn floor, and simple furnishings. Yet the crisp white tablecloths and aproned waiters lend an air of elegance. The terrace, with slatted metal chairs reminiscent of old garden eateries, offers a breathtaking view over the village. The noticeably streamlined menu focuses on hearty, traditional fare—Jókai bean soup, sour lung stew, roast duck leg and aranygaluska. Several options such as a cream soup or fish dishes, cater to those seeking a lighter meal. While the dishes are not "reimagined," they are meticulously prepared with incredible attention to detail. The Jókai bean soup is made with well-soaked pork knuckle, resulting in a balanced, well-seasoned broth, gorgeously presented. The classic somlói galuska (Hungarian trifle), sticks loyally to tradition—moist and sumptuous. The wine list is centred around the estate’s own wines and sparkling selections, complemented by a dozen other Hungarian labels. By the glass, house wines take precedence, while bottles can be purchased at cellar prices for takeaway. Rókusfalvy Fogadó is a retreat to replenish both body and soul.
