TODO Mexican Kitchen

Márton Keve has long been recognised as one of the brightest talents of his generation. And just when his name was becoming synonymous with Asian cuisine, he surprised everyone with a bold new direction in autumn 2024: the launch of TODO, a modern Mexican restaurant. Set in the heart of downtown Budapest, TODO occupies a cavernous ground-floor space in a newly built office block. The industrial shell has been smartly softened with deft design: Violet, crimson, cobalt, emerald and saffron collide in a playful, modern reimagining of Mexico’s vivid visual language. The furniture is carefully selected, at times bordering on fast-food casual, and the upbeat music plays loud, nudging the atmosphere closer to that of a bar. The same goes for the abundant cocktail list and the simple but well-executed Mexican fare. There’s no reinventing the wheel here – just a wide range of tacos, a handful of main courses, and a few traditional desserts. What sets TODO apart is the freshness of the ingredients: everything is made in-house, including the tortillas. Some mains feature unexpected twists, but nothing showy. Cocktails are exuberant, imaginative and meticulously composed, with plenty of alcohol-free options in line with current trends. Wine takes a back seat, as the concept demands, but a short, well-curated list is available for enthusiasts. Service during our visit was brisk and seamless, with only minor gaps in knowledge. TODO is a fun, easy-going spot — ideal for relaxed gatherings, with dishes made to be shared.
