One of Italy’s most esteemed suppliers, Jolanda de Colò, underpins the menu with exceptional produce—from Siccagno tomatoes and stracciatella to San Daniele ham and bluefin tuna, all delivered direct from Italy. The multilevel interior delivers exactly the kind of atmosphere one hopes for in a trattoria. Exposed brick walls, stacked logs, the hum of an open kitchen, a Berkel slicer, and ceramics lining the walls forge a setting that keeps guests coming back. Service is prompt and precise—but no more. The drinks list is extensive and, like the menu, devoted almost entirely to Italy. Though the décor may feel a little timeworn, the dishes exceed expectations. The menu avoids trattoria clichés and offers true Neapolitan pizzas fresh from the oven. Starters and seafood dishes are especially plentiful. The panuozzo—a southern Italian pizza sandwich—was the highlight of our tasting: the freshness of flavour and authenticity of preparation transported us straight to Italy. The tiramisù was equally impressive—soft, creamy, and topped with remarkably fine cocoa powder. While its central location and price point might suggest more refined furnishings, La Coppola remains a reliable choice whenever the craving for an Italian culinary adventure strikes in Pest.
