Türkiz Restaurant Budapest

11 | 20

Türkiz is in a prime location, just a few minutes' walk from both Szabadság Square and Kossuth Square. While Middle Eastern cuisine has been trending worldwide – leading to a rise in Lebanese and Syrian restaurants in Budapest – there are not many true Turkish spots in the city. Most locals know Turkish food from fast-food joints, so experiencing it in an elegant restaurant setting is a refreshing change. The interior is inviting, with turquoise tones, wooden paneling, and an eye-catching bar dominating the space. Middle Eastern influences are present but subtle, keeping the decor light and modern. The muhammara and thin-crust Turkish flatbread, lahmacun, were flavourful and had a homemade feel. The grilled baby squid was well-cooked with a nice texture, though the side salad – made from pre-cut, store-bought mix with slightly browned edges – was a bit of a letdown in this price range. Türkiz's prices match its central location and stylish ambiance. The turquoise-themed restaurant is complemented by the red-toned Rose Meze & Cocktail Bar in the same space, offering good drinks and lighter bites for a more laid-back experience.
